Welcome to RUNNERS.BD ("we", "our", or "us"). We are Bangladesh's running community platform, connecting runners through events, blog posts, gear reviews, and training plans. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our website at runners.bd.

By registering or using RUNNERS.BD you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account data — username, full name, and email address when you register.
  • Profile data — bio, city, avatar image, running history, weekly km target, favorite race distance, and social media links (Strava, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) that you choose to add.
  • Content — blog posts, gear reviews, training plans, and comments you publish on the platform.
  • Communications — messages or support requests you send us.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, and referring URLs.
  • Device data — browser type, operating system, and IP address.
  • Cookies — session cookies required for authentication; no third-party advertising cookies are used.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions.
  • To display your public profile in the Runner Directory.
  • To publish content you create (posts, reviews, training plans) under your profile.
  • To send transactional emails such as email verification and password reset links.
  • To improve the platform based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns.
  • To moderate content and enforce our community guidelines.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.

4. Public Information

Your username, display name, avatar, bio, city, and any content you publish (posts, reviews, training plans) are publicly visible to all visitors of RUNNERS.BD. Social links you add to your profile (Strava, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) are also displayed publicly. Please only share information you are comfortable making public.

5. Data Storage and Security

RUNNERS.BD is built on Supabase, which stores data in secure PostgreSQL databases hosted on AWS infrastructure. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with email verification. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using industry-standard algorithms.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no internet transmission is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
  • Strava — the Club Activity widget embedded in our footer loads content directly from Strava's servers. Strava's own privacy policy applies to that widget.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external services. Please review their individual privacy policies.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data via your Profile Editor in the Dashboard.
  • Delete your account and associated data by contacting us.
  • Withdraw publicly shared content by editing or deleting it from your Dashboard.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Content you have published may be anonymised rather than deleted to preserve community context.

9. Children's Privacy

RUNNERS.BD is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of RUNNERS.BD after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
